Several groups of extremist Jewish settlers under police protection desecrated Al Aqsa Mosque on Thursday morning; Israeli troops prevented hundreds of Palestinians worshipers to get into it.

Al Aqsa foundation for endowment and heritage said that a state of tension is now prevailing among the Palestinians in the occupied Jerusalem as a result of the repeated Jewish violations of the sanctity of Al Aqsa Mosque.

The foundation confirmed that the Palestinian worshipers, who have been inside The Mosque and its for days to protect it, clashed with the invading troops and settlers who stormed the Mosque from Al-Maghariba Gate.

“The armed Israeli policemen detained three Palestinians from the 1948 occupied territories during the confrontations as well as the Mosque warden,” the foundation said.

A large number of Israeli troops and policemen have tightened the blockade on A Aqsa Mosque from inside and outside and banned all Palestinians from getting into it.

Israeli special forces were also seen encircling the grey dome and closing its doors in the early morning, while the Palestinian worshipers locked up inside were heard chanting “Allah the Akbar.”

Extremist Jewish groups from Kiryat Araba had declared their intent yesterday to organize a mass break-in at Al Aqsa Mosque in order to strengthen the Israeli sovereignty over their alleged temple mount and get it from Muslims.

The Israeli demolition of the Palestinian houses and other buildings in 2011 has resulted in displacing more than 1100 citizens, UN report said Saturday morning.

UN demanded a direct halt of such activities of the Israeli occupation and asked it to bear the responsibility of protecting the Palestinian citizens.

“Israel as the Occupying Power has a fundamental responsibility to protect the Palestinian civilian population under its control and to ensure their dignity and well‐being,” Maxwell Gaylard, the UN humanitarian coordinator in the occupied Palestine, said.

“The current policy and practice of demolitions cause extensive human suffering and should end,” Mr Gaylard added.
He also criticised the policy of destroying the Palestinian homes and their livelihood and said that increases their misery. He confirmed that all those actions are not acceptable.

“The wholesale destruction of their homes and livelihoods is not consistent with that responsibility and humanitarian ideals. The current policy and practice of demolitions cause extensive human suffering and should end,” he said.

The report mentioned: “For the year 2011, some 622 homes and livelihood structures belonging to Palestinian families were similarly destroyed, forcibly displacing almost 1,100 people, over half of them children, and compromising the livelihoods of several thousand more.”

Mr Gaylard noted that these figures represent a dramatic increase compared with previous years, and that a much greater number, in the tens of thousands, remain under threat of dispossession, demolition and displacement.

Groups of Israeli Jewish settlers desecrated the sanctity of Al Aqsa Mosque and walked in its courtyards on Monday morning, witnesses said.

The Settlers who were guarded by Israeli policemen passed through Al Maghariba Gate and entered irrespectively to the main courtyards of the Holy Mosque. That was a provocative measure for Muslims’ religious sympathy.

Senior Jewish rabbis urged, last week, their supporters to enter the Al Aqsa Mosque on the day of Hanukkah which is known as the festival of lights to perform Talmudic rituals and dance for several days.

Hundreds of Jewish settlers last night marched provocatively across the streets of the old city of Jerusalem chanting racist offences against Palestinians, performing dances and beating drums in order to disturb residents.

They uttered offensive insults against the Palestinians; calling for killing them or expelling them from the Holy City of Jerusalem.
